I have a chance to buy a quilting sytem. It is a Janome 1600p straight stitch machine with Grace Sure Stitch regulator and Grace Pro Frame. The cost is $1600 which I think is a steal.

What do you think?

Cindy

Hi Cindy, Sorry I have no clue about your question, but I wanted to ask, where in NY are you?

It's a very good price if you think you'll be happy with it. I had the same set-up and it worked well for awhile. After about a year I was frustrated with the small quilting area -- at the end of a larger quilt I was lucky to have 5" of space, and that limits the patterns you can use. If you think you might outgrow it in a short time, I would suggest that you put the money aside and wait for a good deal on a mid-arm. I don't see myself outgrowing my HQ for a very long time.

It is a good price, but you might want to check out this thread <wave>

http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-36660-1.htm

I have testified many times: It didn't take my working on this set up with two quilts and I knew I had made a mistake.
It is a very small area to quilt in, pretty hard to get a rythym going and start and stop.
I wish I had waited and gotten the machine that would give me more space for doing my stippling in a less constricted way. <wave>
