Default Barefoot Quilters

While attending classes and retreats, I've noticed that I am not alone in removing my shoes to sew. Although there is a lot of discussion about clutter and pins on the floors of your sewing areas, how many of you sew barefoot? I operate my electric foot petal with my toes, rather than the entire foot. I covered the treadle pedal with a piece of fleece wrapped foam core so I could comfortably operate it. (I miss the treadle. The vintage ladies are still in the trailer from the fair and quilt show displays.)

Bare or stocking feet. My shoes are removed before coming into the house.

I do just about everything bare footed even though I am not suppose to due to diabetis but, lifelong habits are hard to break especially when you do not want to.lol I no longer go outside without shoes to avoid injuries to feet. I do not think I could sew with shoes on.

If I am inside the house I am bare-footed.

I too operate the foot pedal with my toes, not my foot. And I too have to sew bare foot or stocking feet. I even had to kick off my shoe when I was in the store test driving a new machine! The sales woman swore that the only people that can probably sew with shoes on are those that work in stores selling machines and therefore have to keep their shoes on!

I have to take at least my right shoe off to quilt. Have to "feel" that foot pedal

I can't sew with shoes on. I have to feel how much I am pushing on the "accelerator"(LOL). And yes, unless it's snowing, I drive with my right shoe off :-)))

I wear shoes until I shower and put on houseshoes. I can't stand going barefoot except to sleep. Whatever works.

I sew a lot without my right shoe. And, until I had operations on both my feet so that it's painful to walk without shoes, I kicked my shoes off as soon as I got home. I wear slip-ons in the house and even kick them off when I sit.
