    Default Pre-cuts...HELP!

I would appreciate any feedback on the pre-cuts that have the zig-zag edge finish. Where do you begin measuring for the 1/4 inch sewing line? From the "point" of the zig zag or the "valley"?

    Here' my problem:
Charm packs are supposed to be 5x5". If your pattern requires 2 1/2 x 5 inch strips, then you simply cut it in half. Seems simple enough. But sewing the 1/4 inch seam on the zig-zag edge when measuring from the "point" doesn't appear that it will produce a very secure seam. If you begin measuring from the "valley" then you end up altering the finished dimension of the piece.

So what is the best choice? Anyone had good or bad experiences they could share?

    Thoughts:
Could simply just cut strips from fabric off of the bolt. But aren't the pre-cuts supposed to make things simpler for us?

I appreciate your thoughts! Thank you :-)

Read this - it was written with Bali-Pops strip packs in mind, but can be equally relevant for charm packs:

Thank you, MTS, for the link. I checked it out and it offered good tips for overcoming the width differences.

I always thought you were supposed to measure from valley to valley, rather than peak to peak. I don't buy pre-cuts, though, so no experience with them.

The Bear Paw link is great!
