Default basting spray

I was watching a quilting program the other day and they said not to spray the batting and only the fabric. Said the spray doesn't cover the lower areas of the batting and we would get better "stick" by spraying the flat fabric. Thought this might make sense so I tried it last night and I think it worked a little better. Is this something everyone knew but me?

It also takes a lot less spray and since that product is not exactly cheap, that's a win-win.

I have done it both ways , the results seemed similiar with a bit better sticking when I sprayed the fabric. Alot depends on the batting selection.
