I was looking through several different threads on here and was looking for what is the best basting spray to use and why, i have used june taylor, but i just ordered sullivans and the 101, haven't tried 505 yet, but am looking for something that isn't as smelly and lasts more than a few days, would like to here from those who have tried several products, i did see that the 505 is popular, but was reading someone elses that it only last a few days. i know sulky's brand only lasts a few days unless you put it in an airtight bag . Also would like to know what is the key in getting the fabric on the sandwich not to shift, i noticed when i did use the june tailors on my small practice FMQ sandwiches, they did shift a little not bad, just was wondering if maybe i didn't spray enough, maybe there is a certain technique

I usually quilt mine right after spraying, so I haven't had issues with the spray not adhering. I usually use June Taylor, but the fumes are worse than other brands. :D:D:D

I prefer 505. Had it last more than a few days. I think your SoCal climate is similar to mine (if environment plays a role, that is).

It's probably pretty common to under utilize the spray. I did until I saw a woman go hogwild in a video.

I think 505 is less stinky yet still revolting. :0p

I love 505. Use it on all my quilts and they really get scrunched up when I quilt a queen on my home machine. No problems and smell is much better and June Taylor I tried first.

I use 505. It takes me much more than a few days to quilt a quilt, it holds. The longest has been a month, and it was holding as well a month later as it did the day i sprayed it. i have noticed that it holds best with cotton batting.

I have tried basting spray. It wasn't 505 because that so expensive, but one I bought at Hancock's. I think I sprayed more on the area around the quilt sandwich than I actually did on the fabric. I tried to be very careful, but spent far too much time cleaning up all the residue that didn't make it on the fabric. I guess I'm an old fashioned type of person - just can't seem to develop the skill to spray baste.

I use 505 , I had a can of the June taylor and the SMELL , it was really aweful. Plus the June Taylor you have to use outside. That means I can only do the quilting in the summer as it gets and is really cold here.
How long it lasts is really dependent on how much humidity is in the air, since they wash out in water.

I used Sulky KK 2000 recently and it worked great. I didn't get to these projects for a couple months and I quilted these projects (3 small wall hangings) just yesterday and they were still holding.
