A word of warning on batiks...

We had one come thru the studio that was used for a back (quilted by one of the other girls). The fabric was such a tight weave that the needles didn't go between the threads, it broke the threads.

The top maker ended up taking the whole thing apart and finding another back.

I took the fabric to our longarm guild meeting. They put it on a different machine. Same result. The verdict was - it was the fabric.

I LOVE batiks. But after this experience, I'm very careful about what I buy. Now....what to do about that stash.... probably make a quilt!
