I found a pattern that I love. It's for a 12 x 17 pillow and I want to make a wall hanging from it. It's very basic, squares, rectangles and a few flying geese. If I simply double the size of all the pieces, will it still be in proportion?

Thanks

Could you post a pic of the pattern. That would help. I'm not sure just doubling the size of the pieces would work. Maybe.

I scanned, this not sure how good it is. It's a pretty simple pattern.

So you are thinking of making it 24 x 34?

Why not make 4 blocks slightly different in color for your wall hanging.

I rather like Olivia's Grammy's idea.. you could do it in 4 different colorways for spring, summer, fall and winter.

That's what I had in mind. I may change the borders as far as size, but doubling it seems like it would work well.

You would want to double the size of the "finished" size of the pieces and then add the 1/2" seam allowance to them.

Example...your original pattern says to cut a 4 1/2" block (4" finished), to double it it would be 8" + the 1/2" seam allowance to 8 1/2"
Double-ling it to 9 inches would not work out correctly, IMHO

Thanks to everyone who replied. I appreciate it. Now I'm anxious to start planning and cutting.
