Thread: batting problem..

I bought some batting from Hancock Fabric in a package, I usually buy my batting by the yard but I was being lazy and didn't want to piece the batting for a king quilt. This batting is 120 x120 ... When I took it out of the package it was so wrinkled, I put it on the bed and tried to smooth it out but it still is really wrinkled and it has been laying on the bed for three days.. I keep going in and trying to smooth it out but no luck so far.it just pops right back up...

Is there anything that I can do to get this batting to lay flat? I think I am going to have a problem when I try sandwiching the quilt, as it just doesn't lay flat. would you put it in the dryer, It is extra loft batting and 100 % polyester, it sure doesn't seem like extra loft, it seems kind of thin..I think this will be my last time buying batting in a package..

I was thinking of taking it back but can't seem to get it back in the plastic package.. I guess if I can't get it to lay flat I will just use it for something else and go back and get the batting by the yard, just thought someone would know what to do.. Thanks for your help Carol

I used to spritz mine and then put it in the dryer for a few minutes, then lay it out.

If it is cotton, you can iron it.

i put my batting in the dryer also, it seems to help with the wrinkles.....then if needed I hang it over the shower rod for the night

I put mine in the dryer also for about five minutes. I usually use Warm and Natural, which isn't polyester, so not sure how that would work. But, you know, the comforters you buy from K-Mart and places are polyester, and those dry just fine in a dryer. Might be worth a try.

I preWash and dry my batting before using it in a quilt. If I take it right out of the dryer when the cycle ends it is pretty wrinkle free.

I do the same.
