What loft batting do most of you use. I usually use low loft. I picked up medium loft today and am wondering if there's a huge difference. I like quilts that look more traditional but wouldn't mind a lttle more "plushness". Joanns is having a 50% off sale on their batting.

I usually use warm and natural, low loft. I've heard on here of folks who use a double layer to get a thicker feel, but I've never tried it.

In making some little quilts, it gives me the opporutnity to use up some of my leftover batting by piecieng it together. I have found in the past weekend that quilts with the warm and natural are much easier to quilt with than the polyester filled ones. The ployester seems to dull my needle quicker, and the quilt itself seems to 'slip' when I am doing the decorative stitches. Not so with warm and natural.

I use whatever my customer tells me to use!! LOL. I'm totally sold on Quilter's Dream and keep it in stock, but also like Hobbs Heirloom. Weight depends a lot on what it will be used for and the look you want.

Does the warm and natural shrink. I like the polyester because you don't have to pre wash it. Up till now I've been doing hand quilting but I realized I need to machine quilt if I'm going to get anything done so maybe I need to change my batting.

I'm a hand quilter and I prefer a low loft batting like Hobbs 80/20 or Legacy 80/20, also 100% Cotton of Legacy, Tuscany or Quilter's dream. I don't like warm & natural because it's too hard to needle and to achieve fine stitches for me.
