I'm sorta a beginner and never know (or remember) which batting to use! I am working on a quilt to be used by my niece at summer cmp. I chose low loft figuring it is for summer and shouldn't be too heavy. But when cutting it today and making the sandwich at first it appeared very thin! When I picked it up to get a feel for it I liked it better, but now I'm not sure if it will be okay (I didn't sew it yet, thought I'd come to the experts). Is low loft the way to go for a summer blanket??

I always use Warm & Natural on everything I do.

I don't know what that is. . . by me the available one is PolyFil Polyester Batting - and it comes in different sizes but you choose either Low Loft or High Loft.

    I always use
Warm & Natural it is 100% cotton and very low loft. It doesn't get hot in the summer since it is cotton. It comes in natural and white depending on the color of your fabric. When in doubt always get the natural colored one. A queen size bat will do 4 baby quilts which is more economical than buying crib size. Use a 50% off coupon at Joanns and it is very inexpensive!

I love warm and natural but I use poly too. The low loft gives a lighter feel to a quilt and my kids like that in the warmer weather. I have had no problems with it. Go ahead and use it. It'll be fine.

Use the low loft. The high loft is for comforters and crafts.

Thanks guys! I think I just panicked because when set against the black front it appeared practically transparent so I thought it would be too thin. But when I picked it up and held it, I realized that it will be perfect!

also the poly will be good for a summercamp experience. warm and natural needs a little more care than poly does and at camp the quilt will get washed more (hopefully). definitely will get rougher use. i think you made the right choice.
