Bear pattern

I have an old, beyond repair quilt, and would like to make a bear out of this quilt. Does anyone have that pattern? It has jointed arms and legs and is secured with buttons. :?: :roll: I am a "in my spare time quilter" which, working fulltime as an RN means I don't get to quilt much! My Mother and Grandmother quilted as long as I can remember. I am glad to take up where they left off. I don't know if my daughter will pass this hobby on or not.

I am sorry that I am not familiar with the pattern you speak of. Please also create a post on the 'Main'. It is for anything directly related to quilting and I wouldn't want you to miss an opportunity to be helped.

I Googled Jointed Teddy bear and found one that uses cotter pins. Wonder if you couldn't modify to use buttons ?

Can't help with the pattern but welcome from Southern Ontario. You will love it here. Anything you need to know about any kind of quilting can be found on this site and the people here are very generous with their help. Good luck with your bear.

I would think that any jointed bear pattern in the size you like would work. And probably easier then sewing with fur. I have made lots of jointed bears and sewing with plush is not easy. I also have bear made from an eighty year old baby quilt that is beyond precious. It is pink and ratty, but that gives it special powers, or so my kids used to tell me.

Welcome from Southern Illinois. I made a quilt bear, too. Some of the front parts of the quilt were so bad that I had to use the back for some of the pieces. The plain muslin just makes the pieced parts look even better. This is a great way to give a quilt that is so tattered it is beyond help a new life. A work of caution, I had to hand piece mine, and it was not hard at all!
