Beginning a new Round Robin?
#1
Hi all!
I just read all 25 pages of the Pictures of the Round Robin tops making their way around to everyone in the Pictures forum!!! I absolutely LOVE how they are turning out!!
I looked around for an area where these things are talked about but haven't found anything. Is there another set of people signing up for a new Round Robin? Are 2 allowed to run at the same time (with totally different groups of people in each)?
I've participated in a row robin and a round robin in the past... and am completely inspired by what I've seen here!

Brazen,
its ok to have two going at the same time, but we just started a second one. Nothing says we cant have three.
On the other hand, I have been thinking about a block exchange.. would you be interested it that?

Hey Judy!
Oh no! LOL I didn't realize another one had begun. Are sign-ups for that one closed now, do you know? I need to pay close attention for the NEXT one!
Block swapping... I'm interested in hearing all about it! I've participated in many different kinds of block swaps... run with different rules and restrictions. What are you thoughts and ideas for this one?
Thanks for replying! :)

Brazen, I orgainzed the second one and we ended up with 4 groups when I had to close it as it was getting too big for me to monitor.
The centers are just now being mailed. Pictures are posted here

Ah yes, that's true, we have both running, but nothing says we can't have another, or something else. What normally happens, is a host or a hostess, says "Round Robin, Block Challenge, Doll Swaps (Buttercreamcakeartist has been running at least one of these a month and the end time is two weeks from the start time), Fat Quarter Swap, Charms, ect." whatever, and they create a few ground rules. Like due dates that kind of thing to add a little organization to it.
Currently if you wanted to throw-in with that is currently open to join up. We have The Trick or Treat bag Challenge, which allows you to create a bag/tote of your choice in size for yourself for Halloween, and at the deadline we all vote on the one we like the best babeegirl said she's planning on making a goodie bag for the winner. http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/10904.page We also have a UFO Challenge http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/11034.page where we're encouraging each other to finish some of our abandoned projects by New Years. The picture page for the projects is here http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/11039.page
We also have a couple of fabric swaps:
Christmas Charms for September http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/10875.page
Fall Colored Noodles, also known as 2 1/2" strips cut biased edge to biased edge. http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/10611.page
You can find most of these in the Classifieds/Fabric Swap, but some of them trickle out in other areas, and most all of them end up in the "pictures" section once they get going.
If I missed any open ones feel free to add yourselves! :D Round Robin, and block challenges last quite a while to ensure that everyone can get what they need to get done, without stealing all of your time as each member has more or less time that they can give to a project. The current block challenge started getting members in May or June, and is set to end in Jan., the birthday block started before I was a member and ran for a year so that everyone would get blocks on their birthday, the round robin that jstitch started I think began about three weeks ago maybe a bit more, and wont end for a year. None of these things should stop a host or hostess from starting something new, just keep in mind the kind of time commitment involved for each thing. Christmas is comming and last year there was a Secret Stanta that some members did, but Christmas also means that individuals will have less time.
We're a pretty laid back group, you can join what you like and stand out when you don't have time. Anyone can host and somethings get picked up and others don't it's all in the mood of the group, and just because no one wants to do something right now, bringing it up again in a month or three might have everyone hopping. :D
