cleaning adhesive off irons
#1
Help! I was ironing some wonder under onto my fabric and inadvertently ironed the wrong side. I now have sticky stuff on the iron. I have tried rubbing the surface with was paper and that took care of some of it but not all. Is there anything else I can do? My iron has a teflon soleplate.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks Country Quilter!! I KNEW I had read somewhere how to do it but just couldn't come up with it. Maybe I even read it on this site. Anyway...the dryer sheet took most of it off. I'll keep at it.
Thank you again.

I use a little lighter fluid (just a tiny squirt on a cotton ball) on all things sticky that I want to get off of most surfaces judyjo. It works like a charm. Hope you manage to get it off your iron. That makes for a messy time pressing!

I do know hair dressers clean their curling irons from hair spray with windex. I do that and it is magic. Hmm.. wonder if that is true for you.
Iron must ( ! ) be hot.

Baby oil on a cotton ball will soften it enough to get off without scratching the teflon sole plate too. Not gonna tell the tale of mine, oops, i mean my friends iron. You know I'd never do that, right? right?
 well, I'll fess up...I've done it so often I keep a small bottle of baby oil handy, always!

I bought a tube of "Iron Off" by Dritz at my local Joann's and it is wonderful for cleaning the soleplate of your iron. I use wonder under all the time so ask me how I know it works. LOL Follow the directions carefully and use it Outside. It does tend to set off smoke alarms if used inside. Marge
