Default Bernina 550 QE

My local quilting shop is offering a 1000.00 off the Bernina 550 QE. I have been looking at this quilting machine and need a little push to justify spending that much money! Any thoughts?

I have the Bernina 440 QE without the embroidery feature. I love my machine and I believe the 550 is about the same but without the embroidery feature? If it comes with the BSR ($1000) if sold separately, it is less $ then the 440.

I have the 530 and love it. I also have a 200 for embroidery which is also fabulous!

Its a Bernina. That is all the push you need. LOL As I said many times before, You get what you pay for. Berninas come with a big price tag, and they get it . Why? Because they are worth every penny.

Are you able to use it for machine quilting as well, even for bigger quilts?

I sewed on one, me personally I didn't care for it. IMHO my babylock espire was nicer and a hell of alot cheaper in price. I think they are overpriced for the features they offer, but that is just my opinion. You can get a machine with may more features for half the price, and accessories are a lot cheaper

I have a 440QE with the BSR and embroidery module. It is a workhorse. I've had it for 6 years and only had a problem once that was OE - a broken needle tip that I couldn't find. I use it on my Bernina frame to quilt double and queen size quilts, I do embroidery with it and general sewing. Love my Bernina!

One of my quilting buddies had a lemon of a Bernina and finally ditched it in favor of a Juki
