I think $900 is too much for an 830 Record. I paid $700 for my 930 in great condition with hard case, all accessories, walking foot, tons of feet. $400-600 depending on condition and what's included would be more reasonable IMO.

The 830 was a little cheaper model with a few less stiches I think. They are great machines but I think $900 is alittle high, but it is a dealer. The 930 is a heavy machine with just one or two more bells on it. You can find 830 on ebay for around $400 to 500.

I had the 930 and sold it to buy the 830! I only paid $400 for my 830 and it was not only 100% complete, it had NEVER been used! THe owner traded her old machine in on this one back in 1974, then took the classes at the Bernina shop(they used shop machines, not theirs for the classes) and then never sewed a thing on it! I have the receipt, book with notes/samples in it, everything. The oil bottle was still in plastic! The BErnina lady said that was the saddest thing she had ever seen. Like a fine auto in the garage and never driven! I LOVE my 830!

Depends on the month...as it closers to the holidays or at mothers day they can climb to $1500!

I have an 830, and 801 Sport and an Artista 170. Technically the 830 is my mom's, but I use it when I need to and it has been promised to me. Of all of her stuff it is the only thing I want to inherit.

Today she called me from an estate sale and said there was a 930 there, did I want it? Heck yeah! I haven't seen it yet, but I can't wait to sew on it. The price was great, I never stumble across deals like this and even if I turn around and sell it, the purchase is an investment.

I have to agree that anything over $550-$600 for an 830 is high, unless the owner has purchased a bunch of extras to throw in. The presser feet can be pricey, my mom's has a lot of presser feet to go with hers.

Off to go pick up my new-to-me machine!
