Default Best Pattern for Intermediate quilter?

I am looking for a pattern for the mariner's compass. I just checked out what Amazon has, but none are really what I'm looking for. DH wants one with a large compass in the center and several smaller ones around that. Is there one out there like that? I tried to locate a free pattern, but it only brought up pre-made quilts even with pattern in the search. Any ideas where to look would be most appreciated. Thank you!

for my mariner's compass quilts i use the pre-printed interfacing patterns from QuiltSmart. they do have a couple different ones to choose from. I've been using their interfacings patterns for --gosh about 8 years for lonestars & mariner's compasses, along with their game quilt which i've made about a dozen of. they are great- make everything come out perfectly with no fabric waste...the first quilt i made for our bed was a large mariners compass - it is a pretty spectacular quilt.

Have you checked out "Wedgeworks II by Cheryl Phillips" The book includes the wedge and insert tool. Her instructions are very concise and the results are fabulous.

for increased accuracy, maybe you want to explore paper-pieced stars?

Try Mariners Compass Quilts, by Judy Mathieson. You design your own quilt, using her drafted, paper pieced if you want, inserts in different sizes.
