Default Best Way to Make Log Cabin

I want to make a log cabin and noticed that there are 2 ways to do it. The first is to attach each block separately and the second is to piece it by precutting strips. What do you recommend and why?

I prefer paper-piecing myself. I tried using strips and the quilt turned out wavey.

I will precut my strips and then piece them in by strip quilting - as many sewn as possible in one long continuous piece. I want my 4" strips to be 4", not give or take a bit as determined by the feed dogs of the machine.

Hard as I try, I cannot make a straight log cabin without paper piecing it!

My preferred method is to pre-cut the strips to the width I want, but I leave the length until after I've stitched the log on. I re-use the cutoffs on the next block.

Judy Martin's way, not Eleanor's. Pre-cut the strips. The blocks will not go wonky that way.

I agree with jackie, PP is to time consuming for me since it is a simple block, and individual pieces to me leads to error, I do the eleanor burns method and just square up at each step making it way more accurate
