I was so excited to see that Bethany Reynolds would be a guest speaker and teacher at our guild this year. I couldn't afford the classes, but I figured I could pick up some good tips at the meeting. Tonight was the night!! She explained how she came about her stack n' whack method and showed quite a few of her quilts. She also explained some of her methods. My favorite is a black and white with fans, and 2 kinds of stars. She used white with black fabric and a black background. From a distance they looked like lace. Of course I had to get a fan ruler. After the new year, I hope to work on one.

I was lucky enough to take a class with her several years ago. I have made several of her quilts. It is fun.

I got to meet her several years ago at quilt market. She is a very nice lady and interesting to talk to. I taught Stack and Whack quilting classes at our LQS when I worked there. Its a fun method and no two quilts are the same.

I really enjoyed it, and I can't wait to get going on the fans. I need to make a quilt for a raffle; I think I may make the fans for that. The first quilt I made for my daughter was a Stack n' Whack. It is one on my favorites of the quilts I have made. The thing I like most about Bethany's and Maxine Rosenthal's methods is the anticipation of each block.
