I have a large favor to ask someone who has EQ 6 or another design program even. I've been asked to help make a quilt for one of my co-workers. I have an idea what I want but it would be really nice to see what it would actually look like.
My co worker is going to be a grandma the end of the month and my co workers want to make her a grandma quilt, ( they say the baby always gets so much and she is having a difficult time with alot of things right now).

The idea is for our students to be able to participate also, I work with Sp. Need young adults.
My idea is a railfence with a straight narrow border around it and then the final border made of friendship stars. Or perhaps just the railfence with a wide straight border.
My co worker has chickens and I have some chicken fabrics I'd use as the center rail and perhaps the straight border.
We are thinking cuddle size so probably about 50x70 or there abouts.

We are going to write "A Grandma's Recipe" and various names for Grandma on the quilt rails and maybe sign the star centers, I think you get the idea.

Would anyone out there with a design program be willing to draw something up for me so I have a better idea to show my co-workers and get their input on it? I am no artist and don't have any graph paper. I tried to make a rough draft on paper and probably can use that if necessary but its very rough.

I would really be grateful.

I have EQ6, I could do a layout for you. Do you have the fabric you're going to use? If you can scan fabric or tell me where I can download pics of it you will get a truer look of the final piece. pm me with more info.

Here a quick version,
The blocks are 8", with 5 blocks per row and 7 rows.

The inner border is 1.5" and the plain outer border is 8". The quilt would finish at 55 x 71 The friendship star border is 8" , and would finish at 60x75.

Each rail section would be 1" wide.

Let me know if you want it altered in any way. Wider rails, borders, etc.

Love this quilt and think I must make one. So simple but so elegant.

Norbana,

Thanks so much, sorry I didn't reply sooner as my dil came up and we ended up spending the rest of the evening together and I didn't get back online.
I really like what you've done.
You said each of the rails were 1" did you mean 2" perhaps?
I ask because the students may be writing on the upper or lower rails and 1" wouldn't be wide enough for them I'm afraid.
I really like how this looks and thank you again for giving me a better view.

Thanks again Norbana, these are great I really appreciate it. I am going to print them off and take them to work with me to show my co-workers.
