Has anyone use the big foot for free motion quilting? And how is it more useful than a regular free motion foot? Thanks.

I have used it and for me, personally, it isn't my favorite, because for me it is hard to see around it. I found a metal open toe foot somewhere online (googled) and I like that one best of all. I have a small plastic one for my machine, but that is my second favorite.

is that the plastic purple one? I had one and sold it. it wouldn't stay screwed in well enough for me. but the lady i sold it to, said it worked fine for her on her machine.

Mine is a clear foot, and I am going to cut the front of it more open like Leah Day shows on her site.
For me, even though these feet are clear, they still obstruct my view. I think part of it is the reflection from the machine's light bouncing off of it. And one this big, would even be worse JMHO :D:D:D

I have two of the Big Foot's and love them. Use them because the skim over pins....like much in quilting, it's what you like.

I got one due to good reviews, but honestly liked the one that came with my Elna better. Mine was clear, but a piece broke off the side before I had even finished my first twin sized quilt with it. I am going back to the other foot I had been using....

I have a plastic one and the light does bounce off it, as Amma said. I also have a metal one that I use more but it is hard to see around it. I'm thinking of modifying it like Leah Day did. But am almost scared to. Will have to look up the big foot, never seen one.

How did she modify it?
