Default Big Stitch quilting threadSince I can't

For those who do big stitch quilting, which thread do you prefer? My LQS has limited colors in #8 perle cotton. I prefer 12wt and will need to order online. I am thinking of perle cotton #12, but I read on a blog a recommendation of 12wt Aurifil. Since I can't see the thread before I order online, I need your recommendations.

*I messed up the title somehow and can't edit it. Sorry about that

Right now I'm using #10 crochet cotton. That's a bit heavier than #8 perle and way heavier than 12 wt, but I like the way it looks.

I have a spool of Superior Sew Sassy that's 12 wt that I bought to see if I liked it. I used it on a mug rug and it was nice; I'll probably use it in the future on something bigger.

I just purchased #8 perle cotton as that is what I have seen recommended the most. Just did this yesterday so have not started my project yet. Still need to mark and sandwich. No clue as to the 12 wt Aurifil though.

I've used Sulky 12 wt for big stitch quilting. Lovely thread.

Not long ago Superior had the Sew Sassy 12 wt thread sets on sale for 75% off. I bought the one of every color set. I love this thread. It sews great by hand or machine. Before I found the 12wt thread I used 2 or 3 strands of floss. I have every color of DMC floss from my cross stitching days.

I use DMC floss, usually two or three strands.

Try this shop, I know Jo, Kinda, and she only does Big Stitch. She's a great help and has a small but great shop right on the banks of the Mississippi!

www.joquilter.com she'll have the thread you need.

She came to our guild several years ago and gave a trunk show and workshop. Fabulous lady

I've been Big Stitch quilting for 19 years, since we were teaching it in my shop in Dallas, TX. I use:
10 wt. crochet thread
#8 or #12 perle cotton
Sulky 12 cotton (blendables are so pretty)
Sashiko thread (Recently some at equilter.com)
even have used 'vintage' candlewicking thread (which I swear is sashiko thread)

I had trouble using perl cotton through a batik quilt. Gave up on big stitching that. It was too tightly woven.
