binding foot on video
Im confused after watching the scalloped border video by Missouri quilt co, it looks like they bound the quilt with a regular foot, not a walking foot. Does anyone do this? is there more control with a walking foot or without? This was not a machine with a built in walking foot.

I don't use a walking foot at all. Don't own one. I use a regular foot for all of my sewing and use a 'scant' 1/4" setting on my machine. I've never had an issue. My machine (viking) has an auto tension setting and self adjusts for whatever weight/thickness I am sewing. Love that feature!

Try it both ways and see which one works for you. It's a choice that's going to be based on how well your machine handles a thicker sandwich with/without a walking foot, and your personal preference. I bind with a walking foot, but HATE piecing with it, however, I've read lots of posts where folks always use it to piece. It's quilting so whatever works for you!

I sometimes forget to change to my walking foot to apply the first stage of the binding. Using my regular foot seems to allow me to keep a better seam allowance on this part.
I finish by hand.
