Looking for help on how to get good enough to quilt a throw by Mandering. I have the walking foot and Bernina Stitch Regulator.
Should I practice on large scrap. If someone could give me advice on this I would be gratefull.

i usually always start out by using a 12-16" square sandwich of batting and fabric -helps me work out the kinks or making circles, swirls and angles before I take on a big project. you'd want to use your BSR for the meander, the walking foot is best for straight lines.

Absolutely practice. I have the BSR and would never have been brave enough to try meandering without it. It will take you a little while to get the feel of how the it works and find your rhythm. They say the key is practice, practice, practice. I also have a Juki on a frame, with a stitch regulator and have made my daughter some awesome dog crate throws while practicing with some material I got for $1 a yard and a thrift store blanket for batting and old sheet for backing. Didn't bind them, just serged the edges and my daughter loves them for the dogs...apparently the dogs love them too. She has laundered them a lot! and they have held up well.

Thanks so much, I'll let you know how it turns out for me. I afraid of it. i have to get over this. It is not like me. I guess I don't want to fail. I got the spelling right now so, I can now go with the meandering. Suzanne
