Can someone tell me how to put on a binding on a queen quilt an easy way and how much to I cut off to leave so I have enough to have for the binding. I think I can do this but I am nervous as I made this T-Shirt Quilt and had it quilted and I do not want to mess it up. Oh my, It turned out so nice and now I have this beautiful quilt to bind and I am nervous about it. Help please :D Sharon

I cut my binding 2 ", press it wrong sides together, I stitch it on 3/8" away from the raw edge of the top, then I cut away the backing & batting that way when I fold the binding to the back, it is "full" and not just a flimsy edge, does this make sense to you? If you do a search, there are alot of good full binding explanations with photos.

Go to You Tube, and watch the instructional video on how to bind a quilt. Very good visual instructions! Here is the link by SharonSchamberNet:

If this link doesn't work, go to this site and link to the videos: http://www.sharonschambernetwork.com

This is the blurb for the video:

In this three part video set Sharon teaches you how to bind your quilts like a professional.

Great binding links everyone! I learned lots! Thank you!

Purplelady, were you talking about self binding (i.e. using the backing fabric to bind the quilt)?

When you stitch 3/8 from the raw edge do you stop 3/8 from the next edge or do you stop 1/4? [Hope this question makes sense]
