ctrsass2012- i will post a tutorial on my method after I recover from a large family gathering for Easter. I can cut enough bias strips to go around a king size quilt in just a few minutes. Watch for a tutorial called "fast and easy bias binding" in a day or two.

I think the most important thing is to make sure all the binging strips are cut the same way-- either WOF or lengthwise.

I really like making my binding using leftover fabrics that are included in the quilt, but those definitely would have been from WOF.

I prefer to use LOF, but use WOF if that is what I have.

Thank you madamekelly! That would be great. I don't use bias, always WOF but would like to try scallop border.

I almost always cut bias strips unless it's a quick utility quilt or I want a particular look that I just can't get with bias cuts.

I cut it WOF so it gives me a little stretch if needed. My borders I cut it LOF if I have enough to do it so it gives me less stretch as I work with the quilt.

I always make bias binding as I think it goes on better for me and lays very nice. I use the tube method as instructions found years ago in a Fons and Porter's magazine. Somewhere I came up with a chart that tells me what size of square I need to start with to make so many inches of binding.
