    Blocks to Diamonds

Have any of you used Cheryl Malkowski's method of turning blocks into diamonds for Kaleidoscope Star Quilts from traditional blocks? I ordered the book after seeing some of blocks. That is when I found out that it is mostly paper piecing. I've never done paper piecing before. So, I was wondering just how hard these would be for a beginner. I'd appreciate any input. Thanks.

I haven't seen the blocks or book so no help there but I paper piece a lot. For years I stayed away from pping as I couldn't wrap my brain around the process. When I finally decided to learn I watched videos, read books, and kept trying, THEN it finally clicked. Now, to me, it is the easiest thing and I love it. So, if you decide to go for it, don't give up, it will eventually click for you.

When you get the book, read it carefully, as far as the PP process goes. It will seem backwards to you...it did to me...and even now when I do a PP, I have to mentally step back and rethink the process. Watch some tutes by carol Doak...she is the one who "turned the lite on" for me.....

But you can't beat the precision of the finished block! Jmho
