Try googling Modern Quilt guilds. Some of them may have a chat area.

Modern Quilt Movement is emphasis in more simple designs and patterns, use of solid colors totally in the quilt, use of bright colors with bold designs and graphic designs, probably less reliance on the use of patterns for creating the design. The influence is being reflected in the new fabrics we see from the fabric manufacturers.

I am a member of the MOD quilters. It started out on line about five years ago with fiber artist creating one of a kind quilt designs. They do not use traditional nor contemporary as quilters although some of it has an influence in it being started. We primarily use white, tone on tone white, or gray backgrounds for our canvas so to speak. Some of us do use what is coined "negative space" in color which is the background. We do use alot of geometrics designs and all of us to my knowledge FREESTYLE our creations. In other words we do not use a pattern.

What started online has now gone international with MOD Guilds springing up in many places. You can click this link to learn more:
http://themodernquiltguild.com/

If you look to the right of the page and scroll down a bit you will find the countries internationally and which states in the U.S. that have chapters.

I didn't think I'd be interested, but clicked on the link supplied by clsurz and wow, there's some good stuff on that site. Thanks.
