Default Bobbin winder for the HQ long arms

I have a HQ Avante long arm and the bobbin winder that came with it. I cannot get the bobbins to wind properly. I have tightened the tension several times but the bobbins still feel wrong. The thread is "spongy" not a solid wind. Hope that makes sense. Doesn't matter what type of thread I use.
Anyone have any suggestions for me.
TIA

Are you getting the thread flossed into the tension discs securely?

I had about the same problem with my HQ bobbin winder. The bobbins were "spongy" and when I tried to unwind the bobbin it would tangle. Tried and tried to adjust the winder. Finally took it in to the dealer. The person from that shop that had setup my longarm had not put the winder together right. Lady made a few adjustments and it works fine now. What I was amazed at is the Avante had a wonderful stitch with those lousy bobbins!
