Smile Book 501 Quilting Motifs

After a couple of years of dithering about it, I finally ordered this book. It is great. I have trouble deciding what my quilting motif should be and then - where would I find it anyway?? Each motif shows various ways it can be used. I am more than satisfied with my purchase

Agreed! I purchased the book a few weeks ago and have already used multiple motifs.

I am so glad you posted your comments on the book. I have been thinking about purchasing that book. Now I think I will give it to myself for Christmas. It sounds like exactly what I need. Thanks!

The book suggests templates or a light box.

I use Golden Threads tracing paper and pin or spot glue it onto the quilt top after it is layered. In one case I was able to trace the motif directly onto the quilt top before layering but I found that to be a little more difficult and labor intensive.

Do you hand or machine quilt with the paper?

I bought the book and haven't used the patterns yet but I will one of these days.

I machine quilt with it. If I were hand quilting I would probably transfer the motifs to the top before layering and bypass the paper. I'd also look for a tracing/transfer paper you can use that would still make eraseable lines. I feel like I've seen it before, but I could just be crazy.
