My quilt with a 6", 4", and a 9" border would be really offensive wouldn't it? Are quilt police hand cuffs quilted?

I think your quilt police thought they were on duty. Make the border any size you like

As I was glancing through my quilting mags, I saw a beautiful quilt with 10 1/2" blocks. She use two narrow borders and then, gasp, a 13" border. I guess she didn't get the message before she was published.

One of my friends had a center panel she liked. Eventually she sewed 10 borders around it, and it ended up a quilt on her bed!
Now that is border creativity! J

I do what I want with borders, the size and how many. I always change things to what I like and if I want it bigger or think it would look better with a larger border or an extra border. It all depends on the quilter!

I just read on another post that the borders should be a width which could be divided into the size of the block, ie., if your block is six inches your border should be 2, or four inches...says who?? I make them whatever I like. Let the border police come, I won't answer the door!

I don't see the point in that, unless it's your choice for any quilt. I hate wide borders in all one fabric, I prefer narrower ones, even if I add more than one, I want to accent the quilt & make it pop..... Do your own thing, it's your quilting & you are your own boss, who cares what the so called quilt police know-it-alls think anyway, right!
