I believe the 'quilt police' would advise half the width of your blocks should be the determination for the border.....however.....quilts are the expression of the individual and first and foremost should follow the intent of the quilter.....whimsical mult-borders or singles...your choice. Quilt happy!'

Sandra, I couldn't have said it any better. If you need rules, there are always those willing to tell you. But if you are creative, there are no rules. QUILTER'S ROCK!!!!!

Does anyone besides me get tired of the Quilting Police telling you what you can and can't do on your quilt? The "Pro's" seem to want you to quilt the top until it is flat because that is what they like. I have made different size borders because the quilt will talk to you. I haven't made one without a border yet. I haven't used a thin border with large blocks tho.

we already did that. [evil cackling laughter]
you'll have to go back pretty far through the old posts to find any "you must", "you must not", "always" or never.

not that we never disagree. that happens a lot. but that's a GOOD thing because it makes us think and sometimes see things in a whole new way.

pssssst! don't tell anybody, but sometimes i even figure out i was wrong.

shut up, kathy.

This is a big day for us :!: :D True confessions by Patrice :D :!:
May have been wrong in her lifetime, never, no way I don't believe it! :!: Next thing we'll find out is that she beheaded the quilt police :!: Totally shocking revelations.
But she is right, do what you think looks good and don't worry about others. Of course, I truely wish I could take my own advice some days :D :!:

it's true, i can be ... shall we say ... cranky. but beheading? too messy. too tacky. too much like work. i prefer to leave them cowering the corner.
