Would you belive the E-bay seller 2002misty is still posting the Bow Tucks & Mini Bow Tucks patterns with a starting bid of $5.99, with free shipping. This is the same seller that sent me "photo copies" of the Mini Bow Tucks pattern last week. Penny Sturges' Operations manager has replied to my e-mail regarding this issue & I have left negative feedback for my purchase.

So she is copying a pattern and selling it as a new one? That is WRONG! Glad you left negative feedback. If someone thinks they can get away with this, they will. You should also contact E-bay. They won't tolerate it.

BTW - - She has blackened the name of "Misty"! For shame!!!! (That really is my name... Misty... but my e-bay name is lovinquilting... just in case anyone might think that person is me 8-) )

I did file a complaint with E-bay indicating the pattern was a "fake/forgery". The 2002misty seller refunded my money - with no communication back, but she is still permitted to post on E-bay. If you look at this sellers feedback, she has sold a number of these patterns. I hope future bidders see my feedback about the patterns being photo copies.

I have had this happen to me before... got an e-copy of a book. I e-mailed the seller and told her that she either refund my money and removed her listing, or I would turn her in for copyright violation. She did not have the right to scan a book and send it out as a PDF. She refunded my money. I was afraid to leave negative feedback at the time because at the time, sellers could still leave negative feedback for buyers and I wanted to keep my 100% rating.

Give e-Bay time. They will probably look into it and will put her account on suspension.

lol...That is really my name, too. And I thought the same thing. My ebay name is oncearoundtheworld. This is NOT me!

Donnajean, I am glad you reported her. It really isn't fair that she is making a profit off of someone else's hard work. All it takes is one person to spoil it for everyone.

That is just wrong. And I am sure she knows it. What most people do not realize is that not just the seller can get in trouble, the buyers can as well.

A few years ago I bought a design for my embroidery machine on cd. In her ad she said it was an original. And she had sold hundreds. I was new to machine embroidery and had never seen the design. Well, I got a letter, well over a year later, stating that I had purchased stolen property. WTH? I did not. The wanted me to go to TX and a bunch of other stuff or I could pay 300 bucks. So ridiculous. After some research I did find out that the demands were pretty much just as much a scam as the seller was pulling. I was still scared they would come after me, but they never did, thank goodness.
Donna Jean, you did right by turning her in and demanding a refund. That puts you in the clear if the owner of the pattern ever decides to prosecute.

When I first saw people selling the bags here I went over my Bow Tuck patterns, purchased at a LQS, and I could not find anywhere on it that says the pattern is copyrighted. I am sure that does not mean it isn't, and maybe the more recent ones do say that they are. I have no idea. Even so, I still think it is wrong to sell copies of an original pattern, unless it is your own.

Well, yesterday I gave the 2002misty seller name, her mailing address & e-mail address to Penny's Organization Manager-who responded to my e-mail when I notified the designer by e-mail. I just notified her again tonight about the current posting on E-bay by the same seller. I'm assuming that Penny had the patterns copyrighted, but I don't see any indication on the photo copies I received.

Thing like that just make me sick. Why do people think they can do that. It's stealing someone else s work.

I found where it shows it's copyrighted! The colored picture of the bag, the page that is folded in half with the pattern inside, on the back side of this page at the VERY bottom on the lefthand side. After where it says "If you have any questions........ then it has the copyright symbol 2008 Quiltsillustrated, Inc. All rights reserved.

Donna, I just went on E-bay and looked this seller up and I have a question for you. Did the pattern that you bought look like the pic that she has on her ebay site? Is the three page pattern enclosed in a piece of paper that has the purse in color on the front?
