Silver Needle

I have been asked to quilt a memorial quilt in memory of members of our quilt guild who have passed away, which will be hung in a community center. The side and top are French braid panels. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how one might quilt the braid? The center is appliquéd hills with horses and trees.
