what on earth am I doing wrong...I changed the foot, everything was working fine then all of the sudden the needle keeps hitting the edge of the inside of the foot. Of course I kept trying and broke the needle. In the three weeks I have been sewing I have replaced 5 needles...I can not figure out why its hitting the 1/4 foot. I have a Kenmore, one of the cheaper new ones...good machine horrible instructions and very little on the web about them. Next time I buy a machine it will be from a local sewing machine shop that knows how to work the machine and teach you.

I'm guessing something is out of alignment.

Your needles may be bending... are you sewing on binding or quilting? You may want to try a larger sized needle :D

You could try moving your needle a little to the left if your machine has that capability. Also check and make sure you are getting the needle all of the way up into it's slot.

I had a size blue needle on, just switched to orange. So far so good...fingers crossed. Off to try and finish my borders. As always...thank-you...

Also, you can check to see if the foot is tight on the shaft.

My machine has a needle left & right adjustment. When changing feet, I turn the wheel slowly to make sure needle is in o.k. position for that foot. Don't know if your machine has an adjustment or not.

I had a problem when I put the needle in wrong. It doesn't have a flat side. I thought it didn't matter how it went in. The machine in question is old and the eye had to be turned a certain way. Once I got the needle right, the problem was gone.

Check to see if your machine has a way to set the needle to the center of the foot or to the left of the foot. If you do, then move the needle from it's current position. That might help!
