I made my daughter a Take 5 lap quilt in her bridal colors. They will get a bed quilt later when she decides on the decor and colors. I also made an apron and some potholders. I want to make a quilted cover for her stand mixer, but that's later. She's had her condo for over a year now, so she already has several quilts and tablerunners. I wrote a nice maeesge on the label of her quilt and she helped me quilt it on the longarm since I have a problem standing for long periods. It will be a happy memory for us. Her wedding is fast approaching and I find our time together is really special. (June 3rd)

My daughter just got married. For her shower I made her a full size quilt for the beach. It has both her & him laying on the quilt (full size bodies in bathing suits, I had traced there bodies last spring). It was definitely one of a kind and the hit of the shower.I still have to post pics, but I don't know how to.Of course her diamond was on her finger.

When my niece got married I made them a "wedding cake" with rolled up white towels. Not a "cheap" gift but they're still using the towels.

A Door-A-Doodle with the soon-to-be last name would be nice. Here's a link to the one I did. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-78489-1.htm
Her website doesn't seem to be working right now, but it was http://www.thewholecountrycaboodle.com
With the interchangable panel patterns available, you'll have a year's worth a presents lined up!

Thank you for the great ideas. The cake is beautiful!
(sorry for my poor spelling, that's what happens when I get in a hurry).

We used to live near a great pottery shop and I gave many shower and wedding gifts of a nice large platter. A friend gave me one years ago and it has seen so much use. Great for BBQ, roasts, anything that needs a nice large platter to look pretty on :-) If their registry includes dishes you can look to see what colors are best.

Often I would buy a matching serving bowl and give one for shower and other for wedding.
