Ok My mom's birthday is in the very beginning of August and I need time to ship them, so I need a decently quick project. Her kitchen is decorated with grapes and vines, so my question is...
Does anyone know where I can find a free pattern or two that would have grapes or something on them? I was going to embroider her some towels, but can't find a color I like, so this is my backup and I'm running out of time. Thanks!!

I couldn't find anything made in the shape of grapes, but why not use fabric with grapes and vines. This way you could do any of the free patterns available. You could even make the potholder by appliqueing grapes onto them. Just an idea.

Have a feeling I might have to, just wanted to see if there was a "cooler" way.

Here are 2 sites that have grapes sewforum (free)

http://www.sewforum.com/viewtopic.ph...1&hilit=grapes

http://www.sewforum.com/viewtopic.ph...6&hilit=grapes

And EL (not free)
http://www.emblibrary.com/EL/search.aspx?search=grapes

You may have to join the 1st one tho, but they don't send you email all the time like other sites do.

How about just making a larger than normal version with fabric that has grapes on it and a nice border with hanging loop?

When I taught sewing at a local quilt shop, I would have those new to quilting make a pot holder. The 9 patch is a good pattern & you can find fabrics to co-ordinate with her kitchen. I had a friend who collected anything frogs, so I found frog fabric.

If you are wanting patterns to look at for appliqued grapes, try looking for stained glass patterns as well. They usually have ones about the right size.

You could make a punch of grapes with yo-yos. My mom used to make these around bottle caps as hot mats. Tres creative!
