I would have thought the air threader would be the easiest! I hate having to re-thread my serger. Of course, it is older but I have so much trouble doing it. I don't use it much though so don't see a need in a new one!! I am sold on my Bernina sewing machine but my serger is a baby-lock.

Both of my sergers are older and they are a major pain to rethread if it gets undone with either of the looper threads.
I use a stiff nylon thread and poke it through from the "top" and then tie on my thread and pull it up. That seems to be the only way I can get it through those little holes on the bars.

Truly, save up for the airthreading!
I made the mistake of settling for less and not being happy with it. I ended up with the Babylock and now I have the "first" serger that I can't sell because I can't honestly tell people it's wonderful! LOL

If you are a beginner go by any inexpensive used (working) serger. I do have an airthreader babylock but I started out with an old Pfaff, inherited a more advanced Elna later and without practicing on those two machine I would not be able to appreciate what I have now.
Threading a serger is not so difficult if you understand where the four threads go and in which order you have to thread them.
What will you use the serger for?

Hi Granny ! my twin nieces call me aunt granny as most people think they are my grandchildren ! Love it ! Actually purchased a used bernina 2500 cde serger and have a heck of a time threading to where I get to frustrated to use it ! Going to a class where they have the brother one which if it is easier I might trade in the bernina serger for. Would love the baby loc but have to save up to get. I'm just learning knits and have seen so many projects I'd like to try so......we'll see. thank you
