My current Brother sewing machine is probably not going to last much longer. The service man said it's wearing out. I want another Brother, but I also want an embroidery machine. What's the best way to go..a machine that does both? Or one of each?

Ok, so I was doing the pondering thing with machines and was in the market for a new machine...I was looking at the Janome brand which I love...anyways the one that I wanted which is a all-in-one was way out of my price range, then my finance' said why do you want one machine that does it all, wouldn't it make more sense to have 2 seperate machines so that when one is embroidering you could still be productive working on quilt blocks ect....well I thought for a moment and yeppers that is exactly what I did...made since...so last Thursday I ordered the Janome 6600P and the 350E embroidery ...they will be in sometime next week.....doing the happy dance.... :lol: :lol:

I would say two machines also.
Unless you're talking about something like a Bernina, IMO

Congrats Brenda! Sounds like the perfect duo. I don't embroider, but I like the idea if two machines.

So, my fellow Brother lovers. If I do 2, which would you recommend? So far, I've been looking at the PE770 embroidery machine.

Of all the machines I researched and talked to several who have embroidery machines, most like the Janome, but it is a personal decision really...I like the 350E for the hoop size and I can also get the hat hoop also...It also depends what you are wanting to do...will it just be personal or business, do you want huge designs or medium to small.....I think for the average home use the 350 has alot to offer...Brother is also good, but I like Janome....just my preferance

I have to admit that having two machines is nicer than one that does it all. In the end, it is a timesaver. You can be sewing while the embroidery machine is making your label. I have the Janome 6600 and 350E. There was a post somewhere where someone had a Brother 350 and she wanted to get more patterns to do than what her machine had built in to it. I would really push a machine that has a USB port. Makes importing designs easier. Just my opinion.

I have an all-in-one which is I love; HOWEVER, would never do it again because I can only do one function at a time. So, I now have an additional machine that just sews so I can embroider at the same time. It is wonderful time saver. I would never buy one machine again. For several years, I could only do one function at time and it is so much easier to do sewing and embroidering at the same time. Love it!!!!
Just MHO. Sometimes, the person has only one option and do the best they can with their situation. Good luck and let us know what you decide!

some like separate because they can have the embroidery unit going while their sewing, it also depends on your budget. brother has some nice embroidery only for 700-800 the combo units high end nice ones run around 2000-8000 depending on the bells and whistles. I have my babylock espire(Brother QC-1000) and was thinking of getting embroidery only because i already have a nice machine, Mine cost 1800 got a classroom model. I just can't see spending another 2000 for the Inovovis1500D or 6000 for the duetta

Wow! That would be my dream! I LOOOOVE my little Janome but there is no way I could afford the 6600P and the 350E embroidery so I'll probably get a Brother 770 and save up so that someday I can get a machine with a really large throat or a HQ Sweet Sixteen Sitting setup....ahhh....my dream :)
