Button on pillow covers
I am hoping someone can help me remember where I saw this pattern! It is various seasonal quilt blocks that button onto a base pillow. You can change them with the seasons. Can't remember if it was a book or individual patterns! Thanks!

I remember seeing that too, but don't remember where. You made a neutral knife edge pillow cover, about 18", sewed a button a couple inches from each corner, then made 12" quilt blocks with buttonholes and buttoned them on. If you keep the quilt blocks 12" shouldn't be too hard to duplicate. There are lots of seasonal block patterns out there, just make a single block. Quilt it & bind it & add buttonholes.

I made some new pillow covers for my sofa pillows last Spring and decided to make some embroidered pieces to go with them. As I know I'll get tired of the designs after awhile I decided to just use some Elmers Glue on the corners of my embroidered piece and stick it on that way. So far they've stayed on all summer and into fall. So when I go to wash the pillow covers or get tired of the embroidered design I can just pull it off and change it. Of course my sofa doesn't get used as some folks' would but Elmer's Glue is a lifesaver to me and I use it every chance I get.

Are you thinking of the pillow-of-the-month club by www.shabbyfabrics.com? I get those. They are roughly 36" long and cost $45ish a month. They are sooo cute!!

I Googled removable pillow covers and found these envelope pillow covers. They do not have buttons or zippers.

I have a book called Calendar Patches for pillows, quilts & Clothing by Nancy J. Smith & Lynda S. Milligan that sounds like what you are describing. The pillow is 14" and the patch you button on is about 10 ½ " http://www.amazon.com/Calendar-Patch.../dp/1880972239

The one I did was a pieced star for each month with a seasonal applique in the middle."Quick Seasonal Decorating All Buttoned Up by Leisure Arts #3432. There are a couple on eBay now for sale. Hope this helps.
