I have an opportunity to buy a used Bernina Artista 180.What are your opinions of the machine. I've always heard that the Bernina is a good machine, but I don't know anyone with this model. Thank you for your comments.

I have an Activa 145S that I bought used several years ago and I LOVE IT! Would never hesitate to purchase one of these machines used again. Every year I take it in for service and they offer me more for it in trade than I originally paid. It sews like a dream. What more could you ask for!

My sister has either the 130/135, not sure the series number that her husband bought for her used. She has never had a single problem with it. I bought the 235PE after having used my sisters machine and love my machine. I think the one my sister has and mine are twin machines just with a different series number. I don't think you will be disappointed.

I own a 180 and love it! I use it just for embroidery, very user friendly.

I have one too, and I love it. Never had any problems with it. However if you are going from a mechanical machine to a computerized one there is a learning curve.

My first Bernina was a 180 and it is a work horse to be sure. If it is in good shape and the price is agreeable, I recommend it without reservations. If you are going to use it for quilting, you will find that the stitching is not perfect because the machine is designed to move in so many directions while embroidering. While I was using my 180 for embroidery, I bought the Bernina Aurora 440 quilting sewing machine and it makes beautiful stitches as well as can embroider with the use of a computer. I still have my 180 and hope to give it to one of my relatives someday.

I don't know about the 180 in particular, but I've got vintage and modern Berninas bought used and new. It's a love affair for sure!

I had one for years and I loved it. I just sold mine and bought a later model. Bernina machines are great.
