I tend to buy with specific projects in mind........however.....sometimes there is that piece that you just have to have. I say find a favorite Quilt shop locally and spend some time there, get to know the ladies that work there and feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel the fabric!!!!! :D

On Sale.
With a coupon.
With a gift card.

I agree to start at a local shop. Once you know what you like you can then move to internet shopping.

On sale is a good thing. most of my fabrics I have bought at really good sales. I have picked up a few things ordering on line but several of those I already had the fabric and needed more of it so I knew how it "felt" and such.

I just love to buy fabric ! I don't need a special reason or project. I enjoy the thrill of the hunt ! LOL just buy what you want when you want it and can afford it. no special rules.

When I was just getting started I bought with specific projects in mind. Your stash will build from the leftovers. Once you get rolling you will have a better idea of what you really do like and what fabric lines you like to work with.

If you see a fat quarter or yardage you absolutely love buy it. You will use it eventually or you may just love having it close. That's OK too.
