I don't have a fancy schmancy new computerized machine. I still use my trusty little singer. I got it from my ex-MIL about 15 years ago. She had it reconditioned and gave me the manual. But I have moved 3 times since then and I can't find the manual.

Last night I decided to try some of the different stitches. I must have been doing something wrong. But I would think that if you left the settings the same and changed the cam that it would be different. But with each of 5 cams, I pretty much only got a zigzag.

Is anyone familiar with cams?

Some of the special stitches with the cams need different settings. Needle position, width, ect.

Do a search for manuals for your exact machine and you should be able to find it online. I did for mine. I have a Singer 1030 and it uses cams also. Below is where I got mine from. I downloaded and printed it out. It is a good place to start. Had loads of other information also. I oil and clean my own machines instead of taking them in. I have an older Singer that has to be oiled.......my 1030 doesn't.

Hope it helps,

Thanks. I have kept trying to get into the Singer website, but it freezes up on me every time.

Can you locate the model number on the Singer?......I have one with cams and I do have a manual. If your machine and mine match up, maybe I can send you information from the manual .

I couldn't find anything on the machine. The box that holds the presser feet and cams says Singer 600 series. I think it's a 630, but here is a pic with it in the background.

Ok......you have a Touch and Sew. I have a 648 Touch and Sew. Look right under the red Singer emblem on the front and it should give you the number of the machine. Once we get that we can find your manual for you online for anywhere between ten and 20dollars......but it is worth it. If it is the same number as mine I'll help you out.
