Default Houston Quilt show

Did anyone get to the Houston Quilt Show? Any new and exciting products out there? I did not get alot of time to wander since I had to work the booth for Handi Quilter. Just wondering!

Saw lots of long-arm supplies - notions/rulers/threads.
Lots of rulers that, if you can do the math, you don't need, but were selling like hotcakes.
Same for a lot of the "collections" by name designers - not my cup of tea but flying off the shelves.

Some of my favorite vendors weren't there but the others that were had great stuff, and since it's specialized, there isn't the crazy rush like at booths selling Kaffe and batiks.
Getting in at 5 on Wednesday also made it a more pleasant experience.

I scored some awesome fabrics - Japanese dobby, indigos, colored Shweshews (pink, orange, purple).
Fabulous hand-dyed African fabrics.
Gorgeous fabric from a new (to me) designer, Marcia Derse.http://www.marciaderse.com/
Cashmere for a jacket I want to make - I wanted to curl up in it.
Bought some Kai scissors because....I don't why.
Also some nesting (10) hexagon and octagon lucite rulers.

All shipped back home because I was too lazy to take it on the plane.
All these years of going and I never rented a box.
Always just kept going back to the car to dump stuff.
Next time it's the first thing I do.

I must of missed them but I didn't see any Oakshotts which I found surprising, but I didn't see Pinwheels either.
Maybe they couldn't get out because of the storm.
Or I just didn't see them.

Went with my 'Hello I'm' on but didn't see anybody from the board. Not a big surprise, such a big show. Got some gadgets LOL and got my red snappers, Kia micro serration scissors, a couple of cute 'Texas' patterns, one which I will make for my transplanted BIL one for my Son and DIL probably hey maybe one for ME LOL and walked until my feet and hips screamed for mercy.Next day went to Lone Star Rally (motorcycle) and walked to death again LOL. I wish they weren't on the same weekend!!

Went and thoroughly enjoyed it, still don't think I saw it ALL ... quilts or booths !
Bought new scissors and snippers, threads, a few patterns and fabrics, incl. some new Texas fabrics that I DIDN'T have ... !!
Didn't see many "new" things other than rulers etc but I may have missed some ...
Lots of fun

I enjoyed the show. I got the brass tube to make your own fabric tubes for quilt patterns, such as celtic knot work. That I think was the only took I got. Picked up a few fabrics and that was about it. LOVED looking at the quilts though. My favorite was the gorilla quilt!

I haven't been able to get to the Houston show - maybe next year - but at the last MQX West the biggest new thing was in the Innova booth - the new Navigator, a lower cost computerized quilting system.
