Large Twister ruler - how big is the actual ruler?

Large Twister ruler - how big is the actual ruler?
I have the large size Twister ruler, the one that works on 10" squares. I thought that the ruler itself was 7", creating blocks that finish at 6.5". When I just measured mine today, it was 8". But I really remember the ones at the quilt shop being 7" last week (and I've had my ruler for 6 months or so). And since I can't get back to the shop until tomorrow, I was wondering if everyone else's ruler is 8" and if I dreamed up the 7" one... thanks!
