Does anyone recognise this pattern? [the small blue one] Does it have a name that I could look up?
Thanks for your help!

It looks like it might be a Carol Doak paper pieced pattern?
There certainly is similarity with Carol Doak's patterns. But I have spent the last hour looking at all her patterns, and I just can't find this "squished star" anywhere.
If it is not Carol Doak, I don't know where to suggest to go look. It may be an original design made by someone else. Have you tried searching on Craftsy.com??
A Good Friend, like an old quilt, is both a Treasure and a Comfort
Try checking George Siciliano. He does some very beautiful paper piecing Bird of Paradise type things.

It is a Carol Doak pattern. The quiltmaker called it "Rainbow Stars" but I don't know if that's what Carol called it, also.

It's of interest to note the comment on the post the OP linked to. That person asked about a pattern to the paper pieced "butterfly". So maybe Carol designed a butterfly and not a star...?
