I am making another 4patch lap quilt. I picked out the fabric for the 4ps and I was pleased with them. However, when I looked in one of my drawers I found a small piece of Amy Butler's Ginger Bliss. One of my all time favorite lines. Now I can't decide if I want to use the stripe in place of the purple.

The floral is the border and the rest are the patches. Then there is a white on white which I have not included.

My dilema is this: The stripe looks good stacked with the others but I don't know if it will be too bold in the quilt. I have only 30" of the stripe. I hate to cut into it if there is a chance it might not work. If this was any other fabric I would just cut it and try it out but I can not get any more of this.

The purple, however, looks nice. I like it but it is a safe, conventional choice.

Thoughts?

I like the stripe better in the pictures. How does WOW coordinate withthe stripe? Is the stripe cream based? The stripe blends well with the fabrics pictured.

I'd use the purple, but that's just me. From a distance, the 4-patches read as solid (shades of blue, yellow, green, purple). That's just how I roll. I'd possibly use the strip as a small inner border, but I wouldn't use in the 4-patches.

ETA: The pink in the stripe would annoy me if I used in in the center since there's no pink in the print.

How big is your quilt going to be? If you're not sure, depending on the finished size, you might have enough of the stripe to use for the binding. That will give it a little zip to finish off. I think either choice will work well in the quilt, though.
