I had planned a CW quilt a few years back. If I remember right, it was going to take 27 yards of fabric, and that was just the base. I bought a 15 yard bolt and never went any further.

Check out Erica Plank's YouTube on CWs, She sells a mylar template and uses 10" squares to make the turnover part. The insert is the gold fabric. This is a layer cake of 42 different oriental fabrics and the yardage is the gold. I was going to make a 6 square x 7 square top, but decided 9 was enough. Maybe, someday, I'll do more than a wallhanging, but probably not.
