I watched a MSQC video of a quick easy cathedrel window. I've searched the site done searches and can't find it. Does anyone know the link. It puts folded triangles on the corners of a four patch to make the window.

amazing and looks easy to do, Wondering if I could leave batting out asws it gets mighty warn in Texas and don't need the extra between the top and backing?
I too live in Texas and it is a lot hotter here were I live than in your area, just not as humid. I like to use polyester thin loft for quilts used in my area. Its going to be at lest 113 or hotter here today, because it is only 6:00 a.m. and the tem. is 83 degrees now.- when it is this hot or hotter at this time of the day-one knows it won't be cool during the day.Originally Posted by MaggieBB
Living in the same area as you I use a thick interfacing on the quilts to be used here. This tip was given to me years ago when we first moved here. It works very well for me.
The ten minute block is a good way to use scraps and the blocks can be made using a large size block. It creates a "look alike" cathedrel window.

If you do Cathedral windows in the traditional way-and there is a machine stitching for it too, there is no batting the background squares are all the same color. Traditionally muslin. It is only a couple of layers of cotton and no batting.

Thank you everyone for replying and especially Quiltnan who found the video. Now all I have to do is cut loads of 5" squares and fold my triangles then sew together and quilt. I wonder how long that will take? Oh well must get started now I have the video.

I have tried to make a cathedral window, but have one problem. The first layer of folds meet in the center perfectly, but when I get to the next layer of folding the triangles into the center, the last fold is off center. Any one know why. Hubby says my large backings aren't exactly square, but the measure correct. This is frustrating, because I think they should all meet exactly.
An old saying that nothing is perfect in God's World justifies any mistake I make in my quilts, some on purpose and some by accident..
