Default Changing size of square?

I want to make the "Chiclets" quilt. The pattern is for 2 1/2" and 3 1/2" squares. I already have a bunch of 3" squares and want to use those. So I am wondering if the pattern would still turn out ok , if I use 3" and 4" squares instead? Anyone have any idea or tips?

Make one block. I'm not entirely sure that the little triangles on the sides will be the right size. If you make the first block, you will be able to see if they are the right size. I'm thinking that they will be since you will be making them bigger too. If you make a test block and the triangles are too small, all you will be wasting is one square. I hope I'm making sense.

I am not familiar with the quilt called Chiclets. I changed the main focus fabric on Warm Wishes to 8" finished and left the "sashing" as is.

If it is the pattern that I found online I don't see any reason why it would not work.

I found it in "Brandy's Quilt patterns.com."

I think it would work. The four-inch squares would end up being 3-inch HSTs (after trimming)(unfinished)

I don't think that would work. You have to compare the finished sizes of the squares. It's going to depend on the pattern. a 2.5" square would finish at 2" if it's used as a square. the 3.5" squares would finish at 3" if used as a square. So 3" is 1.5x 2", and you may need squares finishing at 2.5 x 1.5" = 3.75" if you use 3.5" squares, so my mistake, 4" squares might work. I'll echo what someone else said - try a test block.

Purple, I have the pattern and your squares should work. The 4" squares are for HSTs, so those would become 3" finished squares. Your quilt will be a bit larger than the pattern's.
