Welcome to the Quilting Board!

Our guild makes walker/wheelchair bags for the VA hospital and rehab centers, chemo hats (similar to scrub hats) and placemats for Meals on Wheels.
We make a bundle for the preemie or stillborn with a hooded sleeper or dress from doll pattern. We wrap it in a white blankie with a personal note for grieving parents. We have received appreciated replies.
How about large bibs if donating them to a nursing home. Bought a pattern at JoAnn's for $1.00
Walker bags, wheel chair bags and quilts.
Our sheriff's department accepts qullts and knitted blankets. We put them in a ziplock bag. The bags then go in each patrol car. They are given to victims of abuse, fires, etc. Something to cover up and wrap around themselves. Over 200 were given out last year. Check with your fire department and sheriff's office to see if they'd like a program like that. Our guild gives to women's shelters and teen homes. Lots of options.
"A woman is like a tea bag-you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water." Eleanor Roosevelt
Check with your local hospital for children. Most of them love to have quilts for the children and they send them home with them when they leave. Our little group makes them for our local Children's Hospital and they are always glad to get them. Best if you put flannel on the back, but no necessary.
Does anyone have a pattern for something you hang from the hospital bed rail to hold items such as phone, neewspaper, remote, Kleenex, etc so it doesn't take up all the room on the table?
"Love and kindness are never wasted. They always make a difference. They bless the one who receives them, and they bless you, the giver." Barbara De Angelis
Having had to use a walker for awhile, I know how very useful the bags with pockets to carry things can be. It is very akward and unstable to try to carry something in your hand while you are using a walker. A bag with pockets would be VERY welcome.
Your group might consider making quilts or stuffed bears for police who have to go and remove children from crisis or neglect situations.
Maybe some tote bags and put coloring books and other dollar items into for children's hospitals?
